Animal feed legislation: the basics

If your company is active in the animal feed sector, you may be confronted with a variety of complex and challenging legislation. This training will guide you through the most important aspects of animal feed legislation.

Target group
This course is specifically designed to provide quality managers, HACCP and validation team members, management, buyers and sellers, and operators with the necessary knowledge to help them carry out their daily tasks. Level: bachelor level (HBO) / upper secondary education levels (MBO).

Program
This training takes half a day.

  • Relationship between GMP+ and legislation
  • Purpose of legislation
  • Consulting Dutch and European legislation
  • Overview of relevant legislation and description of content
  • Animal Feed Hygiene Regulation (183/2005)
  • Market Regulation for Animal Feeds (767/2009)
  • Feed Catalog (68/2013)
  • Additives and Premixes (1831/2003)
  • Undesirable Substances (2002/32/EC)
  • Pesticides (395/2005)
  • GMOs (1829/2003 and 1830/2003)
  • Animal By-Products (1069/2009)
  • BSE Regulation (999/2001)

During this training, various practical cases, (group) exercises and realistic examples will be used to help participants better understand the concepts and applications. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate as proof of participation in the training.

Learning Objectives

  • Knowledge of GMP+ and legislation: Participants will understand how GMP+ and the relevant legislation are interrelated. This includes the relationship between GMP+ and legislation, the purpose of legislation, and consulting Dutch and European legislation.
  • Insight into various legislation: Participants will gain knowledge of the Animal Feed Hygiene Regulation and other relevant legislation such as the Market Regulation for Animal Feeds, Feed Catalog and Additives and Premixes.
  • Awareness of feed safety: Participants will become aware of aspects such as undesirable substances, pesticides, GMOs, animal by-products and the BSE Regulation in relation to animal feed legislation.
