FAMI-QS Feed Safety Training

FAMI-QS is an international certification scheme that assists producers and traders in ensuring food safety in the animal feed sector. This scheme specifically focuses on ‘specialty feed ingredients,’ which are intentionally added ingredients that are not normally consumed as feed by itself, which affects the characteristics of feed or animals (such as additives and premixtures). Additionally, FAMI-QS includes a mandatory module for preventing feed fraud and feed defense. During this training, the participants will gain insight into the structure of the FAMI-QS scheme and learn which components are relevant for QA personnel and buyers.

Target group
This training is specifically developed to provide quality managers, members of a HACCP or validation team, management, buyers and sellers with the necessary knowledge to help them carry out their daily tasks. Level: bachelor level (HBO) / upper secondary education levels (MBO).

Program
The training lasts approximately 3-4 hours and covers the following topics:

• Relationship between FAMI-QS and legislation
• Types of legislation and a brief overview of relevant EU regulations
• Types of animal feeds and the possibility of direct feeding to animals
• Introduction to FAMI-QS, including key points
  • Leadership and planning
  • Prerequisites
  • Basic HACCP
  • Monitoring
  • Internal audit
  • Management review
  • Continuous improvement
• Specific purchasing conditions of FAMI-QS
• Sale of products under the FAMI-QS certificate
• Traceability and sampling
• Complaints and deviations
• Feed fraud and feed defense module, including VACCP and TACCP analysis

During this training, various practical cases, group exercises, and realistic examples will be used to help participants better understand the concepts and applications. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate as proof of attendance.

Learning objectives

1. Participants will understand the structure and key components of the FAMI-QS certification scheme and be able to apply them in their daily work.
2. Participants will comprehend the impact of FAMI-QS on overall feed safety and recognize the benefits of certification for their organization and the animal feed sector.
3. Participants will be able to actively contribute to improving feed safety within their company.
